Data and Evidence

The data and evidence group brings stakeholders together to increase the quality and quantity of habitat and species data collected for Cumbria to support the monitoring and delivery of Cumbria’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy. Data and evidence produced by this group will provide a steer to the Nature Recovery and People and Nature Working Groups and help to aid prioritisation of projects and programmes that align with the Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

Data and Evidence

Data and evidence produced by this group will provide a steer to the Nature Recovery and People and Nature Working Groups and help to aid prioritisation of projects and programmes that align with the Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

Nature Recovery

The Nature Recovery working group brings together stakeholders to support bigger, better, more joined up delivery of nature recovery in line with the Lawton Principles to create a Nature Recovery Network (NRN) across Cumbria. This group considers the development of landscape, habitat, and species projects, aligning with the data and evidence working group, Cumbria LNRS priorities, and other cross-sector plans/priorities.

There are also a number of thematic groups supporting the activity of this group including;

  • Roadside verges
  • Grasslands
  • Trees and woodlands
  • Ghost ponds

Nature Recovery

Cumbria People and Nature Network

Cumbria People and Nature Network are a forum that brings people of all backgrounds and cultures together who are involved in people and nature activity in order to grow relationships and partnerships, share learning and work collaboratively, and help more people connect with, benefit from, and take action for nature across Cumbria.

Cumbria People and Nature Network are a forum that brings people of all backgrounds and cultures together who are involved in people and nature activity in order to grow relationships and partnerships, share learning and work collaboratively, and help more people connect with, benefit from, and take action for nature across Cumbria.

Local Nature Recovery Strategy 

The Local Nature Recovery Strategy Group is made up of the responsible and supporting authorities, DEFRA Arms Length Bodies, Cumbria Biodiversity Data Centre, and Cumbria Local Nature Partnership. It’s focus is on delivery and monitoring of the LNRS and ensuring the strategy is embedded across organisations. This group works closely with the CLNP Board and other working groups.

Cumbria’s Natural Health Service is a Partnership working across sectors to make sure everyone has the opportunity to experience the health and wellbeing benefits of time outdoors and access to nature.

Stakeholders include: Active Cumbria, Barnado’s, Cumbria Local Nature Partnership, Cumbria People and Nature Network, Cumbria CVS, Cumbria Wildlife Trust, Cumberland Council, Cumberland Health Determinates Research Collaborative, Enterprising Cumbria, Growing Well, Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB, Natural England, University of Cumbria, Westmorland and Furness Council
