Good data, a strong evidence base, and skilled people are essential to delivering Cumbria’s Nature Recovery Network.
Sharing learning, knowledge, and experience across organisations and sectors means more effective action can be taken for nature’s recovery that will also benefit communities and the economy.
Reliable data and consistent monitoring methodology is important so we can measure progress, and identify future priorities. Activity in this area includes:
- Identifying gaps in the knowledge base and working with Partners, academics and researchers, and Cumbria Biodiversity Data Centre to fill these
- Working in partnership with Cumbria Land and Nature Skills Service and others to identify and meet skills development needs.
- Developing and supporting the delivery of data and knowledge focussed projects such as the Cumbria Wildlife Sites Project to improve baseline data.
- Improving the natural environment evidence-base, its management and accessibility in partnership with Cumbria Biodiversity Data Centre.
- Working in partnership with the People and Nature Network to facilitate opportunities for cross-sector and organisational collaboration and sharing.
